free play approach

Children are naturally motivated to play. Our Free Play approach builds on this motivation, using play as a driver and context for learning. In this context, children can explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways.

Free Play involves both child-initiated and teacher-supported learning. Our teachers use gentle encouragement techniques for your child’s learning and development through interactions that aim to stretch their thinking and imagination to higher levels.

We pose questions that encourage problem solving, prediction and hypothesising. We also introduce your child to mathematics, science and literacy concepts through playing, allowing them to engage and interact through hands-on learning.

Play also supports positive attitudes for children to recognise themselves as learners. These include imagination, curiosity, enthusiasm, and persistence. At Creative Garden, we believe the value of these skills are increasingly recognised as being integral to happiness and success in later years, both at school, higher education and in life.
