our programme planning

Our programme is based on the principles, strands, and goals of Te Whāriki: He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa – to grow up as confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.

Based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum and the vision that Te Whāriki has for all children;

We will provide planned and spontaneous experiences and activities for children to develop their knowledge, skills, and attitudes that support them to become confident learners.

These opportunities for planned and spontaneous experiences are facilitated using the environment and with an emphasis on the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and dispositions that support long-life learning.

Children are encouraged to learn about the world and how it works through exploration and interaction with people, places, and things. Through our programme children experience a curriculum that empowers them for their ongoing learning journey throughout life.

Our programme recognises the diverse society that our children are growing up in and the ever-changing choices they need to integrate into their own future.

As we develop our programme further, we recognise that as global citizens in a rapidly changing and increasingly connected world, children need to be adaptive, creative, and resilient. They need to develop how to learn so that they can engage with new contexts, opportunities, and challenges with optimism and resourcefulness.

The teachers at Creative Garden work with parents, whānau, and communities to design and implement a programme of learning that supports the individual development pathways of each child while reflecting the priorities of parents/whanau and the local community.
