When choosing the right ECE for your family / whānau, you’ll want to make sure the learning environment is a happy and friendly place for your child. Here at Creative Garden, we have a Positive Guidance Policy which assures parents that your child is receiving positive reinforcement, encouragement, and support every day at Creative Garden.

Our Positive Guidance Policy is based on the importance of respect and dignity for the child, acknowledging and accepting children’s feelings and encouraging these feelings to be expressed. We believe that establishing effective social competence involves several considerations such as, but not limited to; positive role modelling, speaking calmly with your child, and praising good behaviour. Others include:
• Ensuring that the learning environment
is set up with a range of experiences with
which children of all ages can become fully
engaged in learning.
• Ensuring the layout of the environment
will facilitate the supervision of children
at all times.
• Role-modelling and using positive
interactions with children to support
learning.
• Using a recognition of effort and praise as
a positive reinforcement for children.
• Explaining appropriate and inappropriate
behaviours to children.
• Encouraging children to express their
feelings and to take turns.
• Encouraging communication and listening
skills with children.
